What is the top song of the 80's? (June 21, 2001 6:43 PM)

The "Songs of the Century" project, named Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" as the Song of the Century. Of course, everyone knows that the real song of the century comes from the 80's, but what is it? The project named Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It" as the song of the 80's.

We took our own poll last March, using all of the Project's top 80's songs. Though we didn't have a clear cut winner, the two songs that topped the list were Michael Jackson's "Beat It" (1983), and the Go-Go's "We Got the Beat" (1982), each with 12% of the vote. Interestingly enough, the Project's 80's choice got zero votes. (View the final results)

Now your choices aren't limited by the poll... What do you think is the best? Why?
