What a great topic, Doug! I hope others share their thoughts on this.

I'm with you... Hence why I started this site about 6 years ago. The 80's weren't an age of innocence, but it seems like it compared to today. But it certainly was a happier decade, with brighter colors, happy music, a president who made us proud to be Americans... I may be comparing apples to oragnes, but they call the 80's the "decade of excess", but I've noticed in the 90's so many shows (and related merchandise) were "extreme" - take a look at http://us.imdb.com/Tsearch?extreme. Things have not gotten less excessive, they've only become moreso. Music videos aren't fun anymore - it's become some strange "art form". Rap isn't fun anymore - I'll take DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's "Parents Just Don't Understand" over any obscene gangsta rap any day! Wrestling was actually kinda fun back in the 80's, but it's gotten pretty hardcore with this Smackdown stuff. And, you know what? I miss 80's fashions. On That '80s Show, they obviously dress that way, and it still looks pretty good, despite those who lament with "what we were thinking?" And not even today's Transformers show is any good. Of course, I'm not biased! ;-)

That stuff aside, we may be having a partial return to the good times of the 80's - our current president is very Reaganesque, he (and to a great extent historical circumstances) makes us proud to be Americans and shares the same optimism and reverence for the American people that Reagan did. Even some of the music is a little more upbeat than the 90's. Hopefully, That '80s Show will stick around and remind people of the good ol' days. Plus, back when I started the site in '96, there were only a couple other 80's site, but I've noticed they are multiplying (of course, this one is still the best, right?).

>It seems just like yesterday.What happened to the eighties?I for one miss that time alot.I am a 31 year old guy who wishes we could all have that special time back.I find life just isnt the same as it used to be back then.Can anyone else relate?Time sure did fly by.
